Distinguished scientist Ajit Kumar Mohanty was recently appointed as the Director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), India’s multi-disciplinary nuclear research facility, according to reports. Since the September of 2018, BARC was sitting headless.
Mohanty’s is appointed as the Director for 3 years. Currently, he is the Director, Physics Group, in BARC and Director, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics. He specializes in fundamental physics, was involved in global projects like the Large Hadron Collider in CERN, Geneva.
BARC, based in Mumbai is a multi-disciplinary research center with extensive infrastructure for advanced research and development covering the entire spectrum of nuclear science, engineering and related areas.
