Finnish chemical company Kemira has signed an agreement to form a joint venture known as New Co, with Yongsan Chemicals, a South Korean chemicals company. Kemira will make a multi-million investment in New Co. to have a minority share of 35%. The company will produce dry polyacrylamide, cationic monomer Q9 (AMD) and other chemicals used for retention and drainage in packaging production, wastewater treatment and sludge dewatering.
Kemira can now provide premium quality DPAMs and high quality AMDs supported by backward integration. The company said that this will be an important addition to balance the increasing demand for dry polymers globally. It will be a sustainable and cost –effective manufacturing capability to fulfil customer’s needs and requirements.
