Shell signed a deal with Iraq worth $11 billion to build a petrochemicals plant in Basra.TheNibras project which is expected to be on line within five to six years will make Iraq the largest petrochemical producer in the Middle East.According to Iraqi Industry Minister Nasser al-Esawi,theNibras complex will produce around 1.8 million tonnes of petrochemical products per year which will help the country to diversify its income and support its aim of becoming a major regional energy player.
