Introduction

Terminals or Tanks Farms are used to store large quantities of oil & gas, refinery products and various other chemicals. Such storage tanks play a very important role in the effective and efficient supply of feedstocks, other raw materials and intermediates and products produced. The terminals are also essential for import/export of products and marketing of liquid products.

Storage tanks in terminals are  to be designed and constructed such that they offer efficient and safe operations over a long period, maintain their own integrity in terms of safety, leakages and minimization of vapour losses which not only contribute to losses in revenue but also to global warming. Efficient loading and evacuation of  large volumes of high value products are vital for the smooth working of hydrocarbon & other chemical plants.

Mixing is one of the crucial and important unit operations in Storage Tanks. This is required to ensure that there is no settlement, stratification of the liquids thereby resulting in uniform homogeneity levels at all the locations in the tank. One of the key factors for this application is the ability of the mixer to handle varied quality of fluids which the tanks will see with time.
