Green Hydrogen Technology from Gujarat Empowers Oman Airport’s Lighting System

Greenzo Energy Pvt Ltd, located in Gujarat, has developed an indigenous electrolyser aimed at supplying sustainable electricity to the Oman airport. The electrolyser is designed to generate 400 units of electricity per hour by utilizing green hydrogen.

The process involves utilizing solar power generated by the Oman airport, which is then channelled through the electrolyser containing water. The electrolysis process separates hydrogen from oxygen. During daylight hours, the electrolyser can produce 18 kilograms of hydrogen per hour, which is subsequently purified and stored in tanks for later use.

After sunset, the stored hydrogen is utilized to generate electricity again using fuel cells and atmospheric oxygen. The unique feature of this indigenous electrolyser is its capability to operate continuously, ensuring uninterrupted power supply. As reported by businessline, the cost efficiency of this system is notable, with green hydrogen production priced at ₹280 per kilogram, considering that the electricity supplied costs ₹3 per unit. This initiative underscores the potential for sustainable energy solutions, particularly in the aviation sector.
