Global Experts Praise India’s Ambitious Green Hydrogen Roadmap

Dr. Noe Van Hulst, Vice Chair of the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy (IPHE), representing twenty-three nations, commended India’s national green hydrogen mission during the IPHE meeting held in New Delhi from March 18-22, 2024. He expressed admiration for India’s ambitious targets and the regulatory measures put in place to achieve them, indicating that successful attainment of these goals would position India at the forefront of global hydrogen development.

The meeting, attended by delegates from several advanced nations including France, the European Commission, Japan, Germany, Netherlands, the UAE, the UK, the US, Singapore, South Korea, Austria, and Chile, showcased India’s commitment to advancing hydrogen technology.

Kumaran, Special Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs, highlighted the increasing global recognition of green hydrogen as a pivotal component in transitioning to clean energy. He emphasized its potential to address challenges in sectors with high emissions, as well as its role in long-term energy storage and mobility solutions.

Ajay Yadav, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), provided insights into India’s progress in green hydrogen initiatives, indicating a growing ecosystem for green hydrogen projects across the nation.

Vineet Mittal, Chairperson of the Avaada Group, praised IPHE’s efforts in promoting the hydrogen economy. He called upon international organizations such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the United Nations (UN) to facilitate the global adoption of green hydrogen.
