Ricardo, a global consultancy in strategy, environment, and engineering, is bolstering its presence in the maritime sector to aid clients in developing, designing, and testing large-scale propulsion systems, including multi-stack fuel cell technology.
In January 2021, Ricardo unveiled a new £2.5-million hydrogen test facility at its UK base in Shoreham-by-Sea, doubling its capacity for global hydrogen testing. Now, the company is investing in repurposing an existing structure on-site to enable testing for sizable marine engines.
This expansion benefits maritime clients, leveraging Ricardo’s extensive experience as a leader in hydrogen testing. The upgraded facility will provide cutting-edge support for Ricardo’s development of hydrogen and fuel cell services and solutions worldwide.
As reported by H2-Tech, Jason Oms O’Donnell, Managing Director of Automotive and Industrial at Ricardo, highlighted hydrogen’s potential in various industries for decarbonization, including maritime, commercial vehicles, off-highway, and aerospace. Ricardo’s expertise positions them to spearhead innovation, offering a full spectrum of services from life cycle analysis to turnkey design and integration.
