CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST) has forged a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C) to foster research and education by facilitating the exchange of students and faculty members across interdisciplinary fields of science and technology.
The MoU was formalized during the National Technology Day celebrations at CSIR-NIIST, Pappanamcode, by Dr. C Anandharamakrishnan, Director of CSIR-NIIST, and Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT-C.
Dr. Anandharamakrishnan highlighted the collaboration’s significance, offering NIT students extensive research opportunities in materials science and engineering, food technology, biotechnology, chemical sciences, environmental technology, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
Professor Krishna emphasized that the partnership with CSIR-NIIST will provide graduate and post-graduate engineering students with applied R&D experiences.
As per the press release, the agreement includes joint curriculum development for MTech programs, skill enhancement workshops, and instrumentation training.
Dr. P. Nishy, Head of the Business Development Unit at CSIR-NIIST, and Dr. U S Hareesh, Head of the Human Resources and Academic Division at CSIR-NIIST, also addressed the occasion.
NIIST, a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), boasts a robust R&D portfolio across diverse science and technology domains.
