India is striving to become the world’s leading and most sustainable producer of critical minerals, as highlighted by Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson of Vedanta group firm Hindustan Zinc.
The critical minerals – including cobalt, copper, lithium, nickel, and rare earth elements – are essential for producing clean energy technologies, such as wind turbines and electric vehicles. In particular, they are crucial for manufacturing batteries for electric cars.
Hebbar emphasized the pivotal role the mining and metals sector will play in achieving global net-zero targets. She noted that transitioning to these goals will require a significant amount of minerals, posing a considerable challenge.
As reported by millenniumpost.in, Hindustan Zinc had previously announced its intention to enter the strategic mineral exploration sector by establishing a subsidiary, Hindmetal Exploration Services Private Limited.
