Godavari Biorefineries Ltd (GBL) opened state-of-the-art specialty chemicals plant in Sakharwadi, Maharashtra. The facility, operational for over a year, marks a significant stride for GBL in expanding its bio-specialty chemicals division. The brand aims in reducing reliance on imports while exploring new avenues for exports.
One of its flagship products, ethyl vinyl ether (EVE), holds promise in various sectors including agrochemicals, aroma chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and lube oil additives. Notably, EVE is synthesized from ethanol and acetaldehyde sourced from biomass, contributing to its environmentally friendly profile.
GBL’s growth strategy is evident in its transition from basic to higher-value chemicals derived from bio feedstock. Currently, a substantial portion of its chemical sales comprises bio-based chemicals like acetaldehyde, acetic acid, and ethyl acetate.
The company is actively seeking strategic partnerships worldwide to bolster product adoption, with a keen focus on sustainability. As reported by Manufacturing Today, GBL envisions leveraging biomass across various sectors including biochemicals and biofuels, aligning with its forward-looking vision.
