JSW Energy Commences One GWh Battery Storage Project in Rajasthan

JSW Energy announced the start of construction on a one gigawatt hour (GWh) battery energy storage system project in Fatehgarh, Rajasthan. The project from Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), includes two units, each with a 500 megawatt-hour (MWh) storage capacity, designed for two hours of storage per cycle.

The project will follow a build own operate and transfer (BOOT) model, with the transfer to the offtaker set to occur after twelve years.

As reported by ETEnergyworld.com, JSW Energy plans to commission the project by June 2025. The company has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with JSW Steel Ltd to supply an extra 85,000-90,000 tons of green hydrogen annually and 720,000 tons per annum (TPA) of green oxygen by 2030.
