BPCL Planning Setting up Refinery Projects in Three Indian States

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is planning to set up a new refinery with a capacity of 12 million tons per annum (MTPA) in India, involving an investment of approximately ₹50,000 crore.

The company is considering sites in Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat for the project, which aims to meet the rising demand for fuel and petrochemicals in the country.

BPCL’s objective is to boost its refining capacity to 45 MTPA by the fiscal year 2029. Currently, BPCL operates three refineries located in Mumbai, Kochi, and Bina, Madhya Pradesh, with a combined annual refining capacity of around 36 MTPA.

As reported by Projects Today, BPCL also planning to allocate about ₹1.7 lakh crore over the next five years towards oil refining, the petrochemical sector, and clean energy initiatives. Out of this total capital expenditure, ₹75,000 crore is designated specifically for refinery and petrochemical projects.
