BCGCL Conducts Inaugural Pre-bid Meeting for Innovative Coal Gasification Project

Bharat Coal Gasification & Chemicals Ltd (BCGCL) hosted its initial pre-bid meeting for its first coal gasification project, as announced by the government. BCGCL, a subsidiary of Coal India (CIL), is leading the coal-to-chemicals sector.

The meeting served as a forum for discussions, clarifications, and potential collaboration, in addition to providing essential project information. Representatives from eight prospective bidders attended the meeting. In May, BCGCL had released tenders for three lump sum turnkey packages, which are vital for completing the detailed feasibility report necessary for advancing the project.

The government has approved the investment and the creation of a joint venture between Coal India and BHEL, with Coal India owning a 51 percent stake. Consequently, BCGCL, a CIL subsidiary, was formed to drive this coal-to-chemical initiative.

As reported by devdiscourse.com, BCGCL is making notable progress with its inaugural coal gasification project, which is set to be established in the Lakhanpur area of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) in Odisha.
