Government Issues Guidelines Under the National Green Hydrogen Mission

The government announced new guidelines for funding related to testing facilities, infrastructure, and institutional support under the national green hydrogen mission. The guidelines, issued by the ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE), aim to identify and address gaps in existing testing facilities for components, technologies, and processes within the Green Hydrogen (GH2) value chain.

The scheme will allocate ₹200 crore until the financial year 2025-26 for the establishment of new testing facilities and the upgrading of current ones, ensuring safe and secure operations.

The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) will oversee the implementation of the scheme. The initiative focuses on developing comprehensive quality and performance testing facilities to maintain high standards of quality, sustainability, and safety in GH2 production and trade.

Launched on January 4, 2023, the National Green Hydrogen Mission has a total budget of ₹19,744 crore up to FY 2029-30. As reported by pib.gov.in, the mission aims to enhance India’s self-reliance through clean energy, drive significant decarbonization, reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports, and establish India as a leader in Green Hydrogen technology and market development.
