Re Sustainability, provider of integrated sustainability solutions in Asia, teamed up with Sharrp Ventures, the investment office of the Harsh Mariwala family, to launch an innovative initiative focused on plastics circularity.

Re Sustainability, with over thirty years of experience in waste management across eleven countries and nearly a hundred operational sites in India, stands as the country’s largest company in recycling, resource recovery, and circular economy solutions.

The Marico Innovation Foundation will serve as a catalyst for this venture, leveraging its expertise in supporting startups, innovators, and change-makers within the plastic recycling sector.

The joint venture aims to process 32,000 tons of plastic waste annually, producing more than 9,000 tons of high-quality recycled polymers for various FMCG applications. A key aspect of the project is its commitment to a hundred percent digital end-to-end traceability, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the process.

The initiative also integrates both local and global technological innovations to enhance scalability across the plastic waste management value chain. An AI-powered optical sorting facility in Hyderabad automates sorting processes, reducing manual labour and boosting efficiency.

As reported by indianexpress.com, the pioneering effort follows the Marico Innovation Foundation’s recommendations, which emphasized the pressing need for a robust circular economy for plastics in India.
