Jindal India Renewable Energy, a division of the BC Jindal Group, is foraying into the battery energy storage systems (BESS) sector. The company plans to establish a one GWh battery pack assembly line utilizing lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology by 2025 and will venture into battery cell production with a capacity of five GWh by 2027.
The initiative will be supported through a technological partnership with a leading global technology provider. The development supports India’s ambition to enhance its status as a major player in the global renewable energy market. The sector is experiencing rapid expansion driven by policy support aimed at advancing the country’s green energy goals.
Battery energy storage systems play a crucial role in ensuring grid stability and efficient power storage, addressing power supply challenges during peak demand periods.
