SRF Board Approves Capex Worth ₹1,500 Crore

The board of SRF Limited, approved capital expenditure plans worth around ₹1,500 crore. Among these is a project to establish new production facilities for fourth-generation refrigerants at Dahej, Gujarat.

The refrigerants are designed with a much lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) and a reduced carbon footprint. The estimated cost for the project is ₹1,100 crore, and it is expected to be completed within thirty months.

Additionally, the board has given the green light to a project for setting up a manufacturing facility for BOPP-BOPE film production, including a Metallizer, in Indore, India. The initiative allows SRF to expand its BOPP substrate production while exploring the new BOPE substrate.

It also aligns with the company’s sustainability goals, as polyolefin substrates like BOPP and BOPE are known for their recyclability and environmental benefits due to their mono-family composition. As reported by tradebrains.in, the BOPP capacity will increase by 60,000 MTPA, with an estimated investment of 445 crore, and the project is expected to become operational in approximately twenty-five months.
