Nouryon, a brand dealing in specialty chemicals, announced the successful completion of a major capacity expansion for organic peroxides at its Ningbo manufacturing facility in China.
The expansion has doubled production capacity, reaching 6,000 tons each for perkadox® 14 and trigonox® 101 organic peroxide products.
These essential ingredients enhance polymer properties and are instrumental in crosslinking rubbers and thermoplastics.
Importantly, they enable the use of recycled polypropylene (R-PP) in applications traditionally reserved for virgin plastics.
Supporting the Polymer Cycle
“Our latest expansion underscores Nouryon’s commitment to providing essential ingredients for the polymer industry,” said Alain Rynwalt, Senior Vice President of Performance Materials at Nouryon.
Rynwalt added, “Customer demand for improved recycled polypropylene properties is growing in line with increased consumer awareness and more stringent environmental regulations”.
The expanded capacity highlights Nouryon’s proactive approach to supporting customers’ needs across the entire polymer lifecycle, promoting the broader adoption of recycled materials.
Manufacturing Network
The capacity expansion in Ningbo is part of a broader strategic investment in Nouryon’s manufacturing footprint in China.
In 2021, Nouryon invested in several new facilities, including an organic peroxide plant in Tianjin and a new tert-Butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) and tert-Butyl alcohol (TBA) manufacturing facility in Ningbo.
“Asia Pacific is a crucial market for us,” stated Sobers Sethi, Senior Vice President, Emerging Markets and China at Nouryon. “This recent expansion reinforces our supply position in China.”
Sethi added, “Our extensive network of facilities and advanced technologies allows us to meet the growing demands of our customers. This is true across the globe.”
