UPL, a provider of sustainable agricultural solutions, and CH4 Global have announced a strategic partnership to bring CH4 Global’s methane-reducing feed supplement, Methane Tamer™, to millions of cattle worldwide.
The collaboration will address livestock methane emissions, a significant contributor to global greenhouse gases.
Focus on Key Livestock Markets
Under the multi-phase, multi-year agreement, the companies will develop a detailed roadmap to target major livestock markets, including India, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay.
Together, these countries account for over forty percent of the world’s cattle population. UPL and CH4 Global partnership aims to establish customized business models in each region to distribute Methane Tamer™ effectively.
Revolutionizing Cattle Feed with Methane Tamer
Methane Tamer™, CH4 Global’s innovative feed additive, is formulated using Asparagopsis seaweed. Research shows it can reduce enteric methane emissions from cattle by up to ninety percent when used correctly.
Enteric methane, a byproduct of livestock digestion, is one of the largest human-driven sources of methane globally and significantly contributes to climate change.
Integrating Methane Tamer™ into UPL’s Solutions
UPL plans to integrate Methane Tamer™ into its existing cattle feed formulations, leveraging its extensive market knowledge, customer relationships, and robust distribution networks.
The integration ensures farmers in these key markets can adopt eco-friendly feeding practices seamlessly.
Urgent Action on Methane Reduction
Jai Shroff, Chairman and Group CEO of UPL highlighted “Reducing methane emissions is essential to combat climate change. Methane is nearly 30 times more harmful to the atmosphere than CO2, and recent reports show it’s at the highest levels in 8,00,000 years. By introducing scalable, sustainable livestock practices, we aim to make agriculture a positive force for the environment”.
Steve Meller, President and CEO of CH4 Global echoed, “UPL’s extensive market presence and strong farmer relationships make them the perfect partner to scale Methane Tamer™ globally. Together, we can address the urgent need for effective enteric methane reduction solutions”.
Driving Sustainable Livestock Practices Globally
The partnership represents a significant step toward achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in the livestock sector.
As per the press release, the initiative combines UPL’s expertise with CH4 Global’s breakthrough technology. This collaboration offers a scalable solution to tackle methane emissions. It sets a new standard for sustainable livestock management worldwide.
