Honeywell has secured a contract to supply building automation solutions to Exide Energy Solutions Limited (EESL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Exide Industries Ltd, India’s leading battery manufacturer.
The collaboration highlights Honeywell’s dedication to the ‘Make in India’ initiative and aligns with its focus on automation and the energy transition.
Enhancing Operational Efficiency
Honeywell will implement digital solutions to boost operational efficiency and expedite incident response. These solutions will also conserve energy and enhance security during the initial phase of EESL’s expansive 80-acre lithium-ion gigafactory in Bengaluru.
Central to the initiative is Honeywell’s Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI) platform. It will provide an integrated view and enable centralized monitoring and control of building management across the campus.
Supporting India’s Electric Vehicle Industry
According to the press release, the gigafactory is slated for completion in 2025. It will be Bengaluru’s first multi-gigawatt-hour lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility.
It aims to produce lithium-ion batteries to meet the escalating global demand for electric vehicles.

Atul Pai, Vice President and General Manager of Building Automation at Honeywell India, stated, “We are helping Exide Energy make their new lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility safer, more secure, and more automated. This supports the efficient production of batteries that power the future of electric vehicles.”
He further emphasized that the integrated solutions advance the safety and efficiency of Exide Energy’s gigafactory. They also align with Honeywell’s goals of developing sustainable energy solutions. Additionally, they support India in building self-reliance in critical industries, including electric mobility.
