LANXESS, a specialty chemicals company, has secured top positions in several prestigious sustainability rankings.

The achievements underscore the company’s dedication to sustainable business practices and its proactive approach to addressing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges.

Leading the Chemicals Category in DJSI

In the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Europe, LANXESS ranked first in the “Chemicals” category, scoring an impressive 79 out of 100 points.

Globally, the company secured fourth place in the DJSI World rankings.

LANXESS excelled in key areas such as climate strategy, water management, corporate ethics, human rights, and product stewardship.

Consistently Strong MSCI ESG Rating

For the fourth consecutive year, LANXESS retained its AA rating from MSCI ESG.

This rating places the company among the top performers in the “Commodity & Diversified Chemicals” industry.

MSCI ESG evaluates companies on how effectively they manage ESG risks, further highlighting LANXESS’ strong governance and environmental policies.

Upgraded ISS ESG Score

In November, ISS ESG raised LANXESS’ rating from B- to B on a scale of A+ to D-.

The agency also reaffirmed the company’s prime status. By evaluating around 100 indicators specific to the chemical industry, ISS ESG positioned LANXESS among the best-rated companies in its sector.

Gold-Level Recognition from EcoVadis

The company has achieved a gold-level sustainability rating from EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of over 100,000 companies assessed.

Businesses worldwide rely on EcoVadis ratings to gauge the sustainability performance of their partners, further solidifying LANXESS’ reputation as a leader in sustainable practices.

Committed to Climate Neutrality

“The excellent scores we have achieved in various sustainability ratings reflect our unwavering commitment to sustainable business practices. They show that we take our responsibility to the environment, society, and good corporate governance seriously,” stated Hubert Fink, a member of the Board of Management at LANXESS.

It has set ambitious goals for climate neutrality.

The company aims to achieve climate-neutral production and energy use by 2040. Additionally, it plans to make its entire value chain climate-neutral by 2050.

The Science Based Targets initiative has validated LANXESS’ plans, confirming they align with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
