The UK government announced that Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran has been awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (Knighthood) for his contributions to India-UK business relations.
Acknowledging the Honour
Chandrasekaran thanked King Charles III for the recognition. “I am deeply humbled by this prestigious honour, for which I am grateful to His Majesty, King Charles,” he said.
Strengthening India-UK Business Ties
Chandrasekaran emphasized Tata Group’s strong presence in the UK, highlighting its ownership of iconic British brands such as Jaguar Land Rover and Tetley. The group currently employs over 70,000 people in the UK.
He reaffirmed Tata’s commitment to strengthening strategic ties across sectors, including technology, consumer goods, hospitality, steel, chemicals, and automotive industries.
Sunil Bharti Mittal Also Honoured
Alongside Chandrasekaran, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, has also been conferred Knighthood in the same category.
Chandrasekaran’s Leadership at Tata Sons
Chandrasekaran, widely known as Chandra, became Chairman of Tata Sons in 2017, following the exit of Cyrus Mistry. He first joined the board in October 2016, bringing decades of experience and leadership to the group.
