The leading French engineering and technology firm, Technip Energies, is establishing a new R&D center in India and expanding its workforce. Recognizing India’s key role in the global shift to green hydrogen, the company is strengthening its presence in the country.

According to Arnaud Pieton, CEO of Technip Energies, India is leading some of the world’s largest green hydrogen and green ammonia projects. “India is at the forefront of the green hydrogen economy,” Pieton emphasized.
Technip Energies has been operating in India for nearly five decades. However, the company has accelerated its investments over the past four years, recognizing India’s growing importance in the energy transition.
Expanding Workforce and R&D Capabilities
Over the past four years, Technip Energies has doubled its workforce in India. Now, the company plans to hire an additional 500 to 1,000 employees over the next year, adding to its existing
4,600 strong team.
As part of its expansion, Technip Energies is establishing a research and innovation centre at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Research Park. The facility will complement its three existing labs in Europe and the US. Additionally, it will further strengthen research efforts in energy transition and decarbonization.
Strong Business Presence in India
Technip Energies India currently manages contracts ranging from $500 million to $1 billion. The Indian division contributes 15% of the group’s global annual intake, with Indian teams playing a key role in major international projects.
Sustainable Aviation Fuel: A Growing Opportunity
Beyond green hydrogen, Technip Energies sees sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) as a major growth area in India.
Pieton highlighted India’s abundant feedstock and ability to produce ethanol from various
bio-sources, making it well-positioned for SAF production.
