The Chemours Company, a global player in chemistry, has entered into a strategic manufacturing agreement with Navin Fluorine International Limited. The partnership will enable the production of Chemours’ proprietary Opteon™ two-phase immersion cooling fluid—an advanced solution designed to meet the growing demands of high-performance data centers and AI hardware.
The agreement is a key milestone in Chemours’ newly expanded Liquid Cooling Venture, which focuses on providing sustainable and high-efficiency cooling technologies.
Commercialization Set for 2026
Through the partnership, Navin Fluorine will begin manufacturing the Opteon™ fluid in 2026, providing critical capabilities and production capacity to accelerate adoption of two-phase liquid cooling systems across the tech industry.
Revolutionizing Data Center Cooling Efficiency
Denise Dignam, President and CEO of Chemours, said, “Next-generation chips alone can’t sustain the AI boom—what’s needed is an integrated approach to cooling and resource management. Our experience in thermal solutions positions us to meet these demands head-on”. She added that Opteon™ fluid delivers transformative benefits. It helps reduce the total cost of ownership for data centers by significantly lowering energy use, water consumption, maintenance costs, and physical footprint.
Cutting-Edge Cooling Performance with Sustainability at the Core
The Opteon™ two-phase immersion cooling fluid features an ultra-low global warming potential (GWP) of just 10, and supports data center power usage effectiveness (PUE) levels close to 1. Compared to conventional cooling systems, it nearly eliminates water usage and reduces energy consumption by up to 40%. It also cuts cooling energy use by up to 90%. Additionally, it saves up to 60% in space requirements—delivering broad benefits to both operators and surrounding communities.
Navin Fluorine to Support Scalable, Sustainable Production
Navin Fluorine Executive Chairman Vishad Mafatlal expressed, “Partnering with Chemours allows us to deliver high-impact solutions. These are focused on sustainability within the specialty chemicals space.” It also helps address a pressing challenge for the global data center industry.” We’re proud to be a part of this innovation journey.”
Part of Chemours’ Expanded Liquid Cooling Venture
The Opteon™ cooling fluid is one of several technologies Chemours has developed in its expanded Liquid Cooling Venture. This initiative builds on the company’s 90-year legacy in thermal management. As per the press release, the initiative aims to offer a comprehensive portfolio of cooling solutions. These range from direct-to-chip to immersion cooling, supporting the next generation of computing.
