Expanding Global Reach Through IBC
IBC, currently valued at around $100 million, operates out of the US and South Korea, where it maintains a 35,000 sq. ft. lithium-ion cell production facility. As part of its India-focused strategy, IBC—along with its investors—is setting up a 500 MWh gigafactory near Bengaluru. This move aims to localize battery manufacturing, reduce costs, and support India’s growing demand for clean mobility and energy storage solutions.
Deepening Supply Chain Ties

Pioneering LFP Manufacturing Outside China
In a parallel initiative, Himadri recently announced plans to establish a phased manufacturing facility. It will produce 200 million tons of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) annually. It is equivalent to 100 GWh of lithium-ion batteries. The project, slated for completion over five to six years. It would represent the first LFP facility outside of China, marking a significant milestone in India’s quest for battery self-reliance.
