NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) is set to establish renewable energy (RE) and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Bihar, strengthening its footprint in India’s clean energy landscape. The move aligns with NTPC’s broader strategy to accelerate decarbonisation and energy transition efforts across the country.

MoU Signed with Bihar State Power Generation Company

NGEL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) to advance these initiatives. Sarit Maheswari, CEO of NGEL, and Abdesh Kumar Singh, Director (Technical) of BSPGCL, formalised the agreement in the presence of Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Bihar’s minister of energy, planning and development.

Driving Bihar’s Energy Transition

NGEL’s planned RE and BESS projects will play a pivotal role in Bihar’s energy transition, ensuring greater energy security and supporting India’s climate goals. By integrating battery storage solutions, NGEL will enhance grid reliability and boost renewable energy adoption in the state.

NTPC’s Green Ambitions

NTPC’s flagship green energy subsidiary, NGEL leads the company’s renewable business expansion through both organic and inorganic growth. As reported by thehindubusinessline.com, the company is working toward NTPC’s ambitious target of achieving 60 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by FY2032.
