Electrosteel Castings Acquires Italy’s TiS Service

In a strategic move to strengthen its global footprint, Electrosteel Castings Ltd. acquired Italian valve manufacturer T.i.S. Service S.p.A., aiming to boost its exports across Europe and enhance its position as a comprehensive water infrastructure solutions provider.

Strategic Acquisition Worth ₹150 Crore

The Kolkata-based ductile iron pipe manufacturer announced the acquisition of T.i.S. Service for ₹150 crore, making the Italian company a wholly-owned subsidiary. The deal has been entirely funded through internal accruals, underscoring the company’s financial strength and confidence in its global strategy. T.i.S. Service operates manufacturing plants in Italy and Turkey, with two key logistics hubs located in Poland and Italy. The company currently records an annual turnover of around €40 million.

Expanding Product Portfolio for Water Infrastructure

Electrosteel Castings, long known for its ductile iron (DI) pipes and fittings, is now integrating valves into its offerings—completing the trio of core components in the water infrastructure space. “Valves are an essential part of the same segment. Now, with pipes, fittings, and valves under one roof, we are moving closer to becoming a holistic solutions provider for the water infrastructure sector,” said Madhav Kejriwal, Whole-Time Director, Electrosteel Castings. He further noted, “We had been working internally to develop valve capabilities when this opportunity arose. We seized it with both hands.”

Strengthening Presence in Europe and Beyond

Europe is already a key market for Electrosteel Castings, contributing 15% of the company’s current sales. With the acquisition, the firm aims to significantly scale up its European exports. Last fiscal year, exports made up 17% of Electrosteel’s total turnover. According to Kejriwal, the acquisition will also allow the company to offer a more diversified product range to its customers in Asia, the Middle East, and crucially, in India.

Navigating Global Headwinds

Despite challenging global conditions—including the Russia–Ukraine conflict, instability in the Middle East, rising ocean freight costs, and increasing protectionism—Electrosteel Castings has managed to maintain strong customer loyalty in international markets. In its annual report, the company acknowledged these headwinds but noted that its reputation and consistent repeat orders helped it navigate turbulent conditions effectively.

Outlook: Integrated and Global

With T.i.S. Service now under its umbrella, Electrosteel Castings is well-positioned to offer an integrated product suite for water infrastructure projects worldwide. The acquisition not only expands its manufacturing and logistical capabilities in Europe but also sets the stage for deeper market penetration across geographies. As reported by thehindubusinessline.com, the move marks a significant step in the company’s long-term global expansion strategy, aimed at transforming it into a one-stop solution provider in the water infrastructure space.
