A leak of R-32 gas at Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited in Panchmahal district left one worker dead and twelve hospitalised, authorities confirmed. The gas, commonly used in air conditioning, leaked following a pipeline breach inside the plant.

Workers Affected, Rushed to Hospitals

More than a dozen employees at the site reported symptoms of nausea and vomiting soon after the incident. They were first taken to the company’s occupational health centre, where doctors administered antidotes. From there, the affected workers were referred to various hospitals for further treatment.

Leakage Contained, No Risk to Villagers

As reported by cnbctv18.com, company staff acted swiftly to control the leakage, preventing the gas from spreading outside the facility. Police officials assured that there was no risk posed to nearby villages, limiting the impact strictly to the plant premises.

An official mentioned, “There was a leakage of R-32 gas used in air conditioning from the pipeline. Some people felt nauseous and vomited, so the workers were taken to the company’s occupational health centre where doctors administered them antidote. From there, they were referred to a hospital.”
