JSP Enviro, an IIT Madras-incubated start-up, developed the Bio-Electrochemical Anaerobic Digester System (BEADS), a breakthrough technology for organic wastewater treatment. Using microbial processes to accelerate the degradation of organic waste, BEADS delivers cost savings, energy recovery, and significant carbon reduction for industries.
Proven Industrial Deployment
The system has already been successfully deployed across industries in Erode and Perundurai, Tamil Nadu. Building on this success, JSP Enviro is now scaling up operations across India, aiming to serve multiple sectors with its sustainable wastewater management solution.
Climate Advantage and Emission Reductions
According to founder Priyadharshini Mani, BEADS can treat 100 cubic meters of effluent per day while avoiding nearly 80 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. “Beyond operational savings, BEADS also delivers measurable climate benefits. With global markets opening carbon credit opportunities and the European Union introducing carbon taxes, Indian manufacturers adopting the technology stand to gain financially from their emission reductions,” she explained.
Return on Investment Outlook
JSP Enviro estimates that most installations can achieve return on investment (RoI) within three to four years. Currently, the company is working with textile and dyeing clusters in the SIPCOT industrial regions of Perundurai and Erode.
As reported by thehindubusinessline.com, the start-up plans to expand into other sectors, including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and specialty chemicals. This expansion will bring sustainable wastewater management to a broader industrial base.
