The Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP)’s Agri Centre of Excellence (CoE) has entered into a strategic partnership with Bayer Science and Innovation Private Limited to nurture early-stage agri-startups.

Launched under the C-CAMP Agri CoE programme—backed by the Government of Karnataka’s Department of IT, BT & S&T and the Department of Agriculture (KSDA)—the collaboration will provide startups with knowledge sharing, mentoring, pilot deployment, and strategic engagement. The focus is on fostering innovation that aligns with sustainability, food security, climate resilience, and improved crop productivity.

Formal Signing of Agreement

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at C-CAMP’s premises by Dr. Taslimarif Saiyed, Director-CEO of C-CAMP, and Anil Luke Dhanaraj, Bayer Science Fellow and Principal CI Analyst at SCIPI LifeHub, Bayer Science and Innovation Private Limited.

Driving Innovation and Scalability in Agriculture

Dr. Saiyed said, “Since its inception in 2019, C-CAMP Agri CoE has supported over 100 deep-science and deep-tech-based innovations with the potential to transform Indian agriculture. Our goal goes beyond changing farming practices—we are driving commercial viability, scalability, and mass adoption of technology. By joining hands with Bayer, a global leader in agriculture and life sciences, we aim to strengthen industry participation and accelerate the go-to-market journey in India’s complex agricultural ecosystem.”

Leveraging Global Expertise for Local Impact

Dhanaraj emphasized, “Bayer’s LifeHubs leverage open innovation to co-create solutions for farmers worldwide. At our Bangalore LifeHub, we are excited to collaborate with C-CAMP to address the pressing challenges faced by smallholder farmers in India and beyond. Together, we plan to host events, promote science-driven innovation, and foster meaningful collaborations in agriculture.”

Key Objectives of the Partnership

The MoU outlines a clear framework to support agri-startups, including:

*Identification and mentorship of promising early-stage ventures.

*Pilot deployment and testing within Bayer’s advanced R&D facilities.

*Market access support to accelerate commercialization.

*Co-development opportunities for mutually selected technologies.

Additionally, the agreement sets the stage for potential investments, licensing, and technology transfer arrangements. It aims to ensure that promising agricultural innovations move seamlessly from idea to product.

Building a Future-Ready Agri Ecosystem

The collaboration represents a significant step toward bridging innovation with industry adoption. As reported by thehindubusinessline.com, the partnership combines C-CAMP’s expertise in nurturing deep-tech solutions with Bayer’s global resources and market reach. It aims to empower agri-entrepreneurs, scale transformative technologies, and strengthen India’s position in sustainable and resilient agriculture.
