
Under the patronage of H.E. Tariq Suleiman Al-Roumi, Minister of Oil, and H.E. Sheikh Dr. Nimr Fahad Al Malik Al Sabah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil, the Second Kuwait Digital Transformation Oil & Gas Conference concluded successfully on 8–9 September 2025 at the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa. Supported by Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), Equate Petrochemical, and Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC), the two-day event attracted over 530 senior executives, 40 expert speakers, and 26 sponsors and partners from across the region, underscoring Kuwait’s growing role as a hub for digital innovation in the energy sector.
Opening Keynotes Highlight Kuwait’s Digital Ambition
The conference opened with keynote remarks from H.E. Sheikh Dr. Nimr Fahad Al Malik Al Sabah, who welcomed participants and acknowledged H.E. the Minister of Oil for his patronage. He emphasized Kuwait’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation, noting, “The Ministry of Oil has made digital transformation a strategic focus of its institutional plans, not only to improve performance and streamline procedures but also to enhance transparency, increase government service efficiency, and strengthen decision-making.”
He highlighted the Ministry’s investment in national talent. This includes training in artificial intelligence, digital analytics, and cybersecurity. Such initiatives are central to preparing the workforce for Kuwait’s energy future under Vision 2035.
Following this, H.E. Eng. Khaled Al-Deyain, Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Oil, shared insights on embedding digital solutions to enhance efficiency, risk management, and process safety. He added, “Since launching the Ministry’s digital transformation plan, we have achieved qualitative leaps in smart digital transactions, accelerated progress, reduced bureaucratic cycles, and improved performance efficiency. Our human cadres are the true fuel driving Kuwait’s progress toward Vision 2035.”
Industry Leaders Share Perspectives on Transformation
The conference agenda featured insights from leading national and international oil and gas executives. Mohammad Al-Abdeljalil, Deputy CEO (Planning & Innovation) at KOC, highlighted the momentum in Kuwait’s upstream operations, “We stand at a pivotal moment where traditional operations are being transformed by digital technology. To remain competitive and sustainable, we must evolve quickly and intelligently.”
Bruno Michel, Vice President Geosciences and Reservoir at TotalEnergies, added an international perspective, stressing the role of advanced technologies, “Artificial intelligence, automation, and high-performance computing accelerate the journey from data acquisition to decision-making, reducing costs, improving efficiency, and unlocking new opportunities for discovery.”
On day two, Majed Alhuwailah, Chairman of the Digital Transformation Project Management Office at KIPIC, emphasized downstream innovation. He said, “For KIPIC, digital transformation is about accountability and ownership, integrating applications, enhancing cybersecurity, and leveraging digital twins to boost reliability, safety, and cost efficiency.”
Conference Sessions Focus on Cutting-Edge Solutions
The program featured in-depth sessions on cyber resilience and intelligent drilling systems. It also covered AI-enabled HSE monitoring and digital solutions for national energy operations. Case studies from technology leaders and energy innovators demonstrated how digital tools are transforming operations and decision-making across the sector.

The 2025 edition benefited from strong support by leading partners and sponsors. Key contributors included Huawei, Zak Solutions, Global Projects & Ericsson, Microsoft – Ghaia.ai, Cognite, and Opentext. Other key supporters included Global Tawreed, Energy Robotics, Petro IT, Openware, Geolog, Geoteric, MGS, Aveva, SNF, and Manage Engine. Their contributions highlighted the growing importance of public-private collaboration in achieving operational excellence, safety, and sustainability through digital innovation.
Looking Ahead
According to the press release, this year’s conference was a success. The Kuwait Digital Transformation Oil & Gas Conference will return in 2026. It will continue as the country’s official platform for driving digital innovation in the energy industry. The event remains a key enabler of Kuwait’s energy transformation under Vision 2035.
