PIP Champions Sustainable Manufacturing and the Future of Industry

Payal Industrial Park (PIP), located in Dahej, Gujarat, and developed by Arete Group, has renewed its call to embrace sustainable manufacturing infrastructure and an inclusive industrial future. The company reaffirmed its strong commitment to shaping a net-zero, resource-efficient industrial ecosystem. This was announced at the 7th Edition of the Indian Chemical Council’s (ICC) Sustainability Conclave 2025, held on October 30–31 at The Lalit, New Delhi.

Building the Foundations of a Sustainable Industrial Ecosystem

The event, themed “Chemicals for the Future: Circularity, Decarbonization, and Sustainability,” spotlighted innovative pathways for transforming India’s chemical and manufacturing landscape. PIP — recognized as one of India’s most advanced and environmentally responsible industrial ecosystems — showcased how modern industrial clusters can drive collective decarbonization. They enable this through shared infrastructure, renewable energy integration, and circular resource management.

Sustainability is rapidly becoming a strategic imperative for India’s manufacturing sector. According to industry trends, 93% of manufacturers are now adopting Industry 5.0 principles, combining cutting-edge technology with sustainability for enhanced operational resilience. Moreover, shifting 15% of hydrogen use in refineries to green hydrogen could potentially reduce 6.3 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions by 2035. The convergence of profitability and sustainability is increasingly evident, as green initiatives translate into measurable business growth.

 Decarbonization Requires Collective Action

Virender Kumar, Vice President, Marketing, Payal Industrial Park, emphasized “Decarbonizing the chemical industry requires collective solutions rather than isolated efforts. At PIP, we enable this through shared utilities, centralized effluent treatment, steam and power systems, and carbon management — fostering true circularity and resource efficiency”. He added that co-located industries within PIP benefit from renewable feedstocks and waste heat recovery. Green hydrogen integration further accelerates the low-carbon transition.

“Scaling these initiatives demands supportive policies that incentivize shared infrastructure, carbon reduction, and industrial symbiosis,” he noted. “Aligned with India’s vision to become a global leader in sustainable manufacturing, our initiatives support national strategies such as Viksit Bharat@2047, the Green Hydrogen Mission, and Make in India, establishing chemical parks as key enablers of the nation’s net-zero industrial growth.”

Expanding Sustainable Horizons: Launch of Phase 2

The Arete Group has recently launched Phase 2 of Payal Industrial Park (PIP) at Dahej. The park is located within the Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR). Spanning 850 acres, the expansion reinforces Arete’s vision for a future-ready, ESG-aligned industrial ecosystem. The new phase opens significant opportunities across specialty chemicals, advanced materials, and green energy, while integrating sustainability-driven infrastructure. Key milestones include:

*Central Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) ensuring zero liquid discharge and environmental compliance.

*Green hydrogen partnership with Fourier Earth to enable low-carbon energy solutions.

*Biomass-based steam facility supporting circular energy generation and carbon neutrality by 2040.

These industrial initiatives are complemented by worker housing, healthcare facilities, and green spaces. Executive amenities further highlight PIP’s commitment to holistic community development. As reported by business-standard.com, PIP’s integrated model continues to attract leading Indian and global players in the chemical and manufacturing sectors. It also supports the Make in India and PM Gati Shakti missions.
