CHEMEXCIL Workshop Boosts Compliance Readiness for Indian Chemical Exporters

CHEMEXCIL organized a capacity-building workshop in Kolkata to enhance trade compliance readiness among India’s chemical exporters. The session focused on Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) frameworks, SCOMET export controls, and mandatory reporting through the ChemIndia Portal, equipping exporters to navigate global regulatory expectations and boost international competitiveness.

Part of Ongoing National Trade Compliance Initiative

The Basic Chemicals, Cosmetics & Dyes Export Promotion Council (CHEMEXCIL), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, hosted the full-day workshop on November 4, 2025, as part of its continued Trade Compliance Series. The Kolkata session followed a similar program conducted in Mumbai earlier in September, reflecting the Council’s commitment to expanding regulatory awareness across key export hubs.

Focus on Key Regulatory Requirements

Participants received detailed guidance on:

*AEO Certification: Ensuring secure and efficient cross-border trade operations

*SCOMET Compliance: Understanding licensing requirements for controlled chemical and technology exports

*ChemIndia Portal Reporting: Strengthening transparency and traceability in export documentation

Government officials, including the Chief Commissioner of Customs and the Joint DGFT, Kolkata, joined legal and trade experts to provide regulatory clarity and practical compliance insights.

Driving Export Competitiveness

CHEMEXCIL Chairman Satish Wagh underscored the strategic role of compliance in sustaining India’s growth in global chemical markets. He noted that India’s chemical exports continued to rise between April 2024 and September 2025, despite global trade headwinds, crediting exporters’ adaptability and proactive engagement with regulatory updates.

Supporting a Stronger Global Trade Position

The workshop aimed to:

*Enhance exporters’ preparedness for evolving international standards

*Reduce compliance risks in cross-border trade

*Foster alignment with global regulatory frameworks

By strengthening knowledge and readiness, CHEMEXCIL continues to support India’s chemical exporters. This helps them maintain a strong, reputable, and secure position in international markets.
