The HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL) project, a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and the Government of Rajasthan, is set for completion next month, according to a senior official. The public-sector greenfield refinery and petrochemical complex is coming up at Pachpadra, near Balotra and Barmer.
Project Overview
Laid out as a nine Million Metric Tons Per Annum (MMTPA) facility, the refinery will produce petrol, diesel, and a range of petrochemical products. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the project in 2018. HPCL holds a 74 per cent stake in HRRL, while the Rajasthan Government owns the remaining 26 per cent.
Technology and Operations
*7.5 MMTPA from the Mundra terminal in Gujarat, located 495 km away
*1.5 MMTPA from the Mangla crude terminal in Barmer, situated 75 km from the site
This strategic sourcing ensures a steady and secure input supply for continuous operations.
Community Development Initiatives
In addition to industrial development, HRRL is undertaking social responsibility initiatives in surrounding regions. The company has supported infrastructure improvements, including the construction of a school in Sambhra village. A hospital is also being built to enhance local healthcare access.
