IIM Nagpur Partners with ONGC Green to Strengthen Green Energy Initiatives

In a nationally significant move aligned with India’s clean energy ambitions, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur and ONGC Green Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on December 20. The collaboration aims to drive research, capacity building, and policy-driven initiatives in the green and future energy sector.

Leadership and Signing Ceremony

The MoU was signed by Prof. Bhimaraya Metri, Director of IIM Nagpur, and Harsh Nupur Joshi, Chief Operating Officer of ONGC Green Limited. Senior faculty members from IIM Nagpur, including Prof. Alok Kumar Singh, Dean – Executive Education Programmes, and Prof. Nikunj Kumar Jain, Chairperson of the Executive MBA in Energy Management, were present. Representing ONGC Green, Deepak Kumar, GM (Electrical) attended the ceremony.

Focus on Transformative Energy Solutions

Speaking at the event, Harsh Nupur Joshi highlighted the rapid transformation of the energy sector. “Our goal is to collaborate to support India’s net-zero target by 2070. We will focus on projects in energy storage, biofuels, and emerging solutions like green hydrogen, which is poised to be a game changer for India,” he said.

Prof. Metri emphasized that India’s progress in green energy is closely monitored worldwide. “The world is watching India’s initiatives in sustainable energy. IIM Nagpur is proud to partner with ONGC Green in this national mission. Through this collaboration, we aim to provide research, leadership, and policy insights to shape India’s future energy ecosystem,” he added.

Under the MoU, the two institutions will jointly work on critical areas, including:

*Environmental sustainability and ESG frameworks

*Integration of renewable energy into power systems

*Carbon and green credit markets

*Energy storage solutions and e-mobility policies

*Leadership development in the energy sector

Supporting ONGC Green’s 10 GW Target

ONGC Green, the renewable energy arm of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), is leading efforts to achieve 10 GW of green energy capacity by 2030. The projects include solar, wind, energy storage, biofuels, and green hydrogen. The MoU with IIM Nagpur will provide strong academic and policy support to these initiatives, helping India achieve its net-zero emissions goal by 2070.
