Toyo Engineering India Pvt. Ltd. (Toyo-India), a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan-based Toyo Engineering Corporation, bagged a major Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) contract from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). The contract covers a 400 KTPA polypropylene unit at BPCL’s Kochi Refinery and is scheduled for completion by Q3 FY 2027–28.
Strategic Project Under BPCL’s Petrochemical Expansion
BPCL is India’s second-largest public sector oil marketing company and a Fortune 500 integrated energy major. It maintains a strong presence across the entire energy value chain. The polypropylene project forms a critical part of BPCL’s broader petrochemical expansion strategy, aimed at enhancing value addition and strengthening its downstream portfolio.
Largest-Ever BPCL Contract for Toyo-India
The Kochi refinery project represents the largest contract ever awarded by BPCL to Toyo-India. While the two companies have worked together since 2003 on several refinery and petrochemical projects, this contract marks a new milestone in their long-standing relationship. Moreover, it reaffirms Toyo-India’s proven capability to deliver complex EPCC projects in the petrochemical sector.
Two Decades of Proven Collaboration
Over the past two decades, Toyo-India successfully executed multiple projects for BPCL. The company built a reputation for technical excellence, reliable execution, and strict adherence to quality and safety standards. This latest award further strengthens that partnership and reflects BPCL’s continued confidence in Toyo-India’s engineering and project delivery capabilities.
Reinforcing Leadership in India’s Energy Sector
As per the press release, this contract helps Toyo-India consolidate its position. The company continues to be a leading provider of world-class engineering solutions for India’s energy and petrochemical industries. As the project progresses, the company will drive BPCL’s long-term growth and expand India’s petrochemical capacity.
