INOX Air Products Private Limited (INOXAP), one of India’s leading manufacturers of industrial, electronic, and medical gases, has commissioned an Ultra-High Purity (UHP) Liquid Oxygen facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The facility represents an important step in strengthening India’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem, particularly in emerging sectors such as semiconductor fabrication and solar cell manufacturing. By enabling local production of high-purity gases, the facility supports India’s broader push toward technological self-reliance and supply chain resilience.

Production of 6N Grade Ultra-High Purity Oxygen

The facility produces 6N grade Ultra-High Purity Liquid Oxygen (99.9999% purity), meeting the stringent quality standards required by high-technology industries. With a production capacity of 17 tonnes per day (TPD) or 500 Nm³ per hour, the plant is designed to cater to the rapidly growing needs of semiconductor and photovoltaic manufacturing units. Strategically located in Hosur—one of South India’s prominent industrial hubs—the facility can efficiently supply high-purity oxygen to emerging technology clusters, ensuring reliable and timely delivery.

Supporting India’s Semiconductor and Solar Manufacturing

Siddharth Jain, Managing Director of INOX Air Products, emphasized the company’s vision of supporting India’s future industries through domestic capability building. “At INOXAP, we believe that true progress for India lies in developing capabilities within the country that power its future industries. The commissioning of this Ultra-High Purity Liquid Oxygen facility is a step toward that vision. It will help reduce dependence on imports and strengthen the foundation of India’s semiconductor and solar manufacturing ecosystem,” Jain said. He added that as India advances toward technological self-reliance, the company will continue to invest ahead of the demand curve to ensure the availability of critical industrial inputs within the country.

Reducing Dependence on Imports

Until recently, Ultra-High Purity Liquid Oxygen required by Indian manufacturers was largely imported to meet domestic demand. With the commissioning of the Hosur facility, INOX Air Products has successfully indigenized the production of this highly specialized product, enabling direct and reliable supply to Indian semiconductor and solar manufacturers. The development marks a major milestone in strengthening the domestic supply chain for advanced electronics and renewable energy manufacturing.

Ensuring Reliability for Precision Manufacturing

The facility stands out for its ability to produce 6N grade industrial liquid oxygen, a purity level essential for precision-driven processes in semiconductor fabrication and photovoltaic cell production. Furthermore, local production will allow manufacturers to reduce import lead times, minimize disruptions caused by global supply chain uncertainties, and maintain uninterrupted production cycles. As per the press release, by establishing this facility, INOX Air Products is reinforcing India’s capabilities in high-purity industrial gases, which are critical to the growth of next-generation technology and clean energy industries.
