Linde to Build Air Separation Facility in North Carolina

Industrial gases company Linde announced plans to build a new facility in Garysburg, North Carolina, to strengthen its industrial gas production and supply network in the United States. The company will build, own and operate the new air separation unit (ASU), which will supply essential industrial gases to customers across the region. The investment reflects Linde’s strategy to expand its production capacity and support growing demand from key industrial sectors.

ASU to Produce Oxygen, Nitrogen and Argon

The planned air separation unit will produce liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon, which are widely used in industries such as manufacturing, chemicals, healthcare, food processing and electronics. By producing these gases locally, Linde aims to improve supply reliability while ensuring efficient distribution to regional customers. The company has already initiated the acquisition of land and equipment required for the project, marking the first step toward establishing the new facility.

Plant Scheduled for Start-Up by 2028

Construction activities will progress over the next few years, with the plant expected to begin operations by the end of 2028. Once operational, the ASU will significantly enhance Linde’s ability to meet rising demand for industrial gases in the southeastern United States. Linde highlighted that strong growth across several industries in the region has driven the decision to expand its production footprint. Todd Lawson, Vice President – East Region, Linde, “We are experiencing incredible growth across multiple end markets in the area. This investment will add to our already robust production and supply network and help meet the current and future industrial gas needs of customers in the region”.

Strengthening Linde’s Supply Network

With the addition of the Garysburg facility, Linde aims to further reinforce its industrial gas supply chain in North America. The project will enhance production capacity, improve distribution efficiency and support customers in sectors that rely heavily on a consistent supply of industrial gases. As reported by marketwatch.com, as industrial activity continues to expand in the region, the new air separation plant will play a key role in ensuring reliable and long-term supply of essential gases for a wide range of applications.
