Juniper Green Energy Initiates Commissioning of FDRE Project

Juniper Green Energy reached a significant milestone by initiating the commissioning of India’s first firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) project. Developed under the government’s flagship guidelines, the project represents a major advancement in delivering reliable and scalable clean energy.

Integrated Renewable Energy Model Across States

The project combines 259 MWp of solar capacity, 280 MW of wind energy, and a 200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). These assets are strategically spread across Rajasthan and Gujarat. As a result, the integrated system can deliver consistent and dispatchable renewable power aligned with grid requirements.

Addressing Intermittency with FDRE Framework

The FDRE framework, introduced by the Ministry of Power in June 2023, directly addresses one of the biggest challenges in renewable energy—intermittency. While solar power generation stops at night and wind energy remains variable, the framework mandates the integration of solar, wind, and storage. Consequently, it ensures a stable and scheduled power supply tailored to the needs of distribution companies.

Key Milestones Achieved

Juniper has already achieved critical progress in project execution. The solar component entered commercial operations in March 2026, followed by the battery energy storage system in April 2026. These milestones demonstrate steady advancement toward full project completion.

Enhancing Grid Stability and Reducing Fossil Dependence

Once fully operational, the FDRE project will strengthen grid stability and reliability. Moreover, it will reduce dependence on fossil fuels by enabling a consistent supply of clean energy. This integrated approach is expected to set a new benchmark for large-scale renewable energy projects in India.

Leadership Perspective on the Milestone

Ankush Malik, CEO of Juniper Green Energy, stated that the commissioning marks a defining milestone in delivering firm and dispatchable renewable power. He emphasised that the project reflects the company’s strong execution capabilities, technological expertise, and commitment to shaping the future of sustainable energy.

Paving the Way for Future Renewable Projects

The project signals a transformative shift in India’s renewable energy landscape. As reported by projectstoday.ai, by combining multiple energy sources with storage, Juniper Green Energy is setting a precedent for future FDRE projects and supporting the country’s transition toward a more resilient and sustainable power sector.
