Eveready Industries India Ltd., a market player with over 52% share in India’s dry cell battery segment, has inaugurated the country’s only operational alkaline battery manufacturing facility in Jammu. Set up with an investment of approximately ₹200 crore, the greenfield plant marks a significant step in strengthening India’s domestic battery manufacturing ecosystem. The facility offers:

*Installed capacity: ~456 million units per year
Consequently, this scale-up is expected to reduce import dependence, improve supply chain resilience, and enhance operational efficiencies.

Aligned with the government’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives, the Jammu facility will play a crucial role in localising production of high-performance batteries. In addition, the plant will support white labelling opportunities, cater to both domestic and international markets and strengthen Eveready’s ambition to become a global player in the alkaline segment.

Currently, the company’s alkaline portfolio is approaching 20% market share, and this expansion is expected to accelerate further growth.
