Air Products marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of a $70 million expansion of its Missouri Manufacturing and Logistics Center in Maryland Heights, near St. Louis, Missouri. The ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated the completion of the company’s largest-ever investment in a single Air Products Membrane Solutions location. The expansion is designed to support growing global demand for advanced gas separation and purification technologies while enhancing manufacturing capacity and supply chain efficiency. As a global player in membrane-based gas separation solutions, Air Products continues to invest in technologies that support cleaner energy production, industrial productivity, and sustainability initiatives.

Rising Demand Drives Strategic Investment

The expansion is being driven by increasing demand for membrane technologies across several high-growth sectors. In particular, Air Products is seeing strong market demand for solutions used in biogas upgrading, hydrogen recovery, aerospace applications, and cleaner marine fuels. As industries accelerate efforts to improve efficiency and reduce emissions, membrane separation technologies are becoming increasingly important for sustainable industrial operations. The facility will enable the company to better serve customers while supporting emerging opportunities in renewable energy and low-carbon technologies.

Advanced Membrane Technologies to Support Energy Transition

The expanded manufacturing center will produce several of Air Products’ flagship membrane solutions, including the PRISM® GreenSep membrane separator and the PRISM® N2Sep membrane separator. The PRISM® GreenSep system is designed for bio-LNG production, helping transform biogas into renewable fuel by efficiently separating and purifying gas streams. Meanwhile, the PRISM® N2Sep membrane separator generates nitrogen from compressed air and is widely used in aerospace, industrial, and manufacturing applications where reliable nitrogen supply is critical. Together, these technologies support cleaner energy production, enhanced operational efficiency, and reduced environmental impact across multiple industries.

Supporting Customers and Sustainability Goals

Dr. Erin Sorensen, General Manager of Air Products Membrane Solutions, emphasized, “This is a great day for Air Products Membrane Solutions and the area community. This expansion of our Maryland Heights facility enables Air Products Membrane Solutions to meet growing customer demand and help our customers work more efficiently and further our collaborative goal of building a cleaner, more productive world.” The investment reinforces Air Products’ commitment to delivering innovative technologies that help customers improve productivity while advancing sustainability objectives.

Positioning for Future Growth

With the completion of the Missouri expansion, Air Products is well-positioned to meet increasing global demand for advanced gas separation technologies. The investment strengthens the company’s manufacturing footprint, enhances supply chain resilience, and supports the continued development of innovative solutions that enable cleaner energy production and greater industrial efficiency. As per the press release, as industries worldwide pursue sustainability and energy transition goals, Air Products Membrane Solutions continues to play a critical role in delivering technologies that help build a cleaner, more productive future.
