Suzlon Energy Limited achieved a major commercial milestone by securing a 105 MW wind energy order from Sunsure Energy for its newly launched S175 (5.0 MW) wind turbine. The order marks the commercial debut of Suzlon’s next-generation turbine platform and reinforces the company’s leadership in India’s rapidly expanding renewable energy sector. The project further strengthens the long-standing partnership between Suzlon and Sunsure Energy, reflecting growing confidence in Suzlon’s advanced wind energy technology and project execution capabilities.
Third Order Strengthens Strategic Partnership
Suzlon will supply 21 units of its S175 (5.0 MW) Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) for installation in Bijapur district, Karnataka. This is Sunsure Energy’s third order with Suzlon in just 14 months, taking the companies’ cumulative partnership to 400.8 MW. The repeat order underscores the strong business relationship between the two companies and highlights Sunsure’s continued investment in high-efficiency wind power projects to meet India’s growing clean energy demand.
S175 Turbine Designed for Higher Energy Generation
The newly launched S175 (5.0 MW) is positioned as India’s tallest and most powerful wind turbine. The turbine incorporates several advanced design features, including 175-metre rotor diameter, 160-metre hybrid lattice tower, enhanced access to stronger and more stable wind regimes, higher annual energy generation and improved project economics. By harnessing superior wind resources at greater hub heights, the S175 enables developers to unlock previously underutilized wind sites while improving project viability and return on investment. The advanced platform is also expected to expand India’s addressable wind energy market by making more locations commercially suitable for large-scale wind power generation.
Suzlon Highlights Growing Customer Confidence
Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman, Suzlon Group, said, “Sunsure began their wind energy journey with us and has now grown into one of India’s largest and fastest-growing commercial and industrial-focused renewable energy providers. We are proud to support their growth as our partnership deepens across geographies.” He further noted that the partnership has evolved steadily—from the companies’ first project using Suzlon’s 2.1 MW platform, to expansion on the 3 MW platform, and now with Sunsure becoming the launch customer for the company’s flagship 5 MW S175 wind turbine.
Sunsure Energy Focuses on Reliable Renewable Power
Manish Mehta, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Sunsure Energy, said, “Our strategy is centred on meeting the need for firm, reliable clean energy driven by India’s accelerated electrification and an expanded manufacturing footprint.” He added that the S175 wind turbine is a strategic fit for the company’s renewable energy portfolio. “The S175 is purpose-built for firm and dispatchable power, enabling seamless integration into hybrid and Round-The-Clock (RTC) renewable energy solutions,” Mehta mentioned.
Expanding India’s Wind Energy Landscape
The commercial launch of the S175 platform marks an important step in Suzlon’s strategy to deliver higher-capacity, technology-driven wind energy solutions for India’s evolving renewable energy market. As reported by investywise.com, with larger turbines capable of generating more electricity while improving project economics, Suzlon is well-positioned to support the country’s ambitious clean energy targets and growing demand for sustainable power across industrial and commercial sectors.
