Epsilon Carbon Pvt. Ltd., a global producer of carbon black and specialty carbon products, released its 6th Sustainability Report for FY 2025–26, titled “Anchored in Carbon. Embedded in Circularity.” The report highlights the company’s progress in emissions reduction, energy efficiency, workplace safety, inclusion and community development. It also outlines Epsilon Carbon’s strategy to build a more responsible, resilient and sustainable carbon value chain.

Epsilon Carbon Advances Emissions Reduction and Energy Efficiency

During FY 2025–26, Epsilon Carbon achieved a 98% reduction in Scope 2 emissions intensity compared with its FY 2022–23 baseline. In addition, the company reduced its energy consumption intensity by 6% through operational improvements and more efficient resource utilisation. These achievements reflect the company’s continued efforts to integrate sustainability into its manufacturing operations while delivering reliable carbon materials to customers across the tyre, rubber, manufacturing and industrial sectors.

Waste Heat Recovery Supports Decarbonisation

Epsilon Carbon’s 17 MW captive power plant, which uses waste hot gases generated during production, continues to play a key role in its decarbonisation strategy. During the year, the company achieved 77% utilisation of waste heat recovery, maintaining progress towards its target. By converting waste heat into useful energy and reducing reliance on coal-based power, Epsilon Carbon avoided more than 89,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. Furthermore, the company reduced its Scope 3 emissions intensity by 8.13% compared with FY 2024–25. This progress supports its broader efforts to improve environmental performance across the value chain and promote more sustainable manufacturing practices.

Manufacturing Capacity Supports Diverse Industrial Applications

Epsilon Carbon’s manufacturing capabilities enable it to serve customers across a wide range of industrial applications. Its Vijayanagar plant has an annual carbon black production capacity of 215,000 tonnes, alongside a specialty carbon capacity of 5,00,000 tons per annum. These capabilities support applications in tyres, rubber products and other high-performance industrial sectors. At the same time, the company continues to focus on resource efficiency and responsible production to help customers advance their own sustainability objectives.

Workplace Safety, Inclusion and Community Development

Beyond its environmental initiatives, Epsilon Carbon continues to prioritise employee safety, workplace inclusion and social development. During FY 2025–26, the company recorded zero fatalities, reflecting its focus on maintaining a safe working environment. Women accounted for 10% of the Board and 9.41% of the overall workforce during the reporting period. These figures highlight the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen representation and inclusion across the organisation. Meanwhile, Epsilon Carbon’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes positively impacted approximately 140,000 lives. Through these initiatives, the company supported community development and social progress in areas connected to its operations.

Sustainability Integrated into Long-Term Business Strategy

Vikram Handa, Managing Director of Epsilon Carbon, said, “Sustainability is central to how we are building Epsilon Carbon for the future. Our progress in reducing emissions intensity, increasing the use of waste heat recovery and improving energy efficiency shows what is possible when sustainability is built into everyday operations. “Our customers in tyres, rubber and other manufacturing sectors are also working towards more responsible and efficient value chains. We are committed to supporting them through dependable products, strong manufacturing capabilities and continued innovation. Alongside our environmental priorities, we remain focused on safety, inclusion and creating a positive impact in the communities where we operate.”
