N.A.N. Silox GreenMet appointed Vijay Pasupathy as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as the company advances plans to establish a ₹1,400 crore lithium-ion battery recycling and critical metals recovery facility in Andhra Pradesh. The company also secured Consent to Establish approval and is preparing to begin construction at the project site. The appointment marks an important step in the company’s expansion into battery recycling and critical minerals recovery. In addition, N.A.N. Silox GreenMet plans to strengthen its downstream capabilities by entering the manufacturing of precursor cathode active material (pCAM) and cathode active material (CAM).

Vijay Pasupathy to Lead Plant Development and Expansion

As CEO, Vijay Pasupathy will oversee the construction and commissioning of the company’s upcoming facility at Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh. He will also lead the joint venture’s downstream expansion into pCAM and CAM manufacturing. These materials play a critical role in lithium-ion battery production. Therefore, the planned expansion aims to create a more integrated value chain in which recovered critical metals can support domestic battery material manufacturing.

₹1,400 Crore Facility to Strengthen Battery Recycling in India

Naivedya Agarwal, Director and Co-founder of N.A.N. GreenMet, said, “We are delighted to welcome Vijay as CEO alongside a heavily experienced operational leadership team at this pivotal stage. With groundbreaking underway at Naidupeta, our downstream pCAM and CAM expansion will ensure that critical minerals recovered in India are processed further and reused to build new batteries domestically.” The project is expected to support India’s efforts to recover valuable materials from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries and reuse them in domestic manufacturing. Furthermore, integrating recycling with downstream material production could help strengthen the country’s battery supply chain and reduce dependence on external sources of critical minerals.

Facility to Process 40,000 Tons of Battery Material Annually

N.A.N. Silox GreenMet is a 50:50 joint venture between Indian industrial platform N.A.N. GreenMet and Belgium-based Silox Group. The proposed Naidupeta facility is designed to achieve the following annual processing capacities:

Battery shredding: 40,000 tonnes per annum.

Hydrometallurgical processing: 20,000 tonnes per annum.

The company plans to deploy the facility in phases, with hydrometallurgical processing enabling the recovery of valuable metals for the production of battery-grade metal salts. As reported by autocarpro.in, by combining battery recycling with plans for pCAM and CAM manufacturing, N.A.N. Silox GreenMet aims to develop a broader critical materials platform that supports battery manufacturing and resource circularity in India.
