ACME Group Collaborates with Hydrogenious for Hydrogen Supply Chain

ACME Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies based in Germany. The idea of the collaboration is to conduct a feasibility study exploring the possibility of jointly developing extensive hydrogen supply chains. The supply chains are intended to connect ACME’s projects located in Oman to supply hubs in Europe, utilizing the innovative Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers (LOHC) technology pioneered by Hydrogenious.

Both brands expressed intention to broaden partnership scope to assess the hydrogen value chain extending from the United States to Europe. The development holds significant significance as the storage and transportation of green hydrogen are pivotal for the establishment of robust supply networks.

Hydrogenious’ LOHC technology is noteworthy due to its capability to ensure safe and cost-effective storage and transportation of hydrogen by leveraging existing liquid fuel infrastructure. The technology is adept at securely binding hydrogen to the thermal oil benzyltoluene (LOHC-BT) through a chemical process. Consequently, this allows the efficient storage and transportation of hydrogen at ambient pressure and temperature using existing liquid fuel infrastructure.

As reported by businessline, Toralf Pohl, the Chief Commercial Officer of Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies, underscores the inherent safety of LOHC-BT. He emphasizes its suitability for handling hydrogen in ports and urban environments due to its minimal flammability, high stability, and competitive volumetric storage density. These features enable the establishment of large-scale, long-distance hydrogen value chains without significant hydrogen losses.
