ACME Solar Holdings plans to expand its renewable energy capacity to 5 GW by March 2026, investing ₹17,000 crore starting April 2025. The company also aims to scale up to 7 GW by FY27, strengthening its position in India’s renewable energy sector.
Operational Growth and Capacity Utilization
ACME Solar’s operational capacity increased significantly, rising from 1,340 MW in Q1/FY25 to 2,540 MW in Q2/FY25. Of this, 67% serves central offtakers, while 33% caters to state offtakers.
The company also improved efficiency:
- Capacity utilization grew from 23.3% in H1/FY24 to 24.6% in H1/FY25.
- Plant availability rose from 99.2% to 99.3% during the same period.
- Diversifying Beyond Solar Power
Currently, ACME Solar’s portfolio consists entirely of solar projects. However, its under-construction projects include solar, wind, FDRE, and hybrid energy, reflecting a move toward a diversified renewable energy mix.
Key Milestone: Jaisalmer Solar Plant
The commissioning of a 1,200 MW inter-state transmission system-connected plant in Jaisalmer has further boosted ACME’s operational capacity. The plant operates exclusively on solar power under a 25-year contract with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Capital expenditure for the Jaisalmer plant: ₹4,400 per watt-hour for 1,200 MW capacity. Additional cost for integrating 1,200 MW-hour storage: ₹1,000 crore.
Expanding Project Portfolio
In FY25, ACME Solar secured 1,900 MW of new capacity, increasing its total contracted portfolio to 6,970 MW. By H2/FY25, its overall portfolio included:
- 2,540 MW operational capacity
- 4,180 MW under construction
As reported by projectstoday.com, with these expansions, ACME Solar continues to drive India’s renewable energy growth while enhancing efficiency and diversifying its energy sources.
