Adani TotalEnergies Biomass Limited (ATBL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL), announced the commencement of operations at phase one of its Barsana biogas plant, situated in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh.

The plant comprises three phases and is anticipated to achieve an overall capacity of 600 tons per day (TPD) of feedstock, resulting in the generation of over forty-two TPD of Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) and 217 TPD of organic fertilizer upon full commissioning.

Upon reaching phase three and reaching its full design capacity, the plant is poised to become India’s largest agriculture waste-based bio-CNG plant. The total project cost for all three phases of the Barsana Biogas plant is estimated to exceed ₹200 crore.

As reported by THE FREE PRESS JOURNAL, through the utilization of advanced anaerobic digestion technology, the plant converts organic materials into renewable biogas, thereby making substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and diminishing reliance on fossil fuels. Additionally, this initiative contributes to the nation’s fuel security and aligns with its emission reduction objectives.
