Technologies for CO₂ separation and recovery have gained significant attention due to their potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect the planet.

Once isolated and purified, CO₂ can be converted into various industrial chemicals, including carbonates, fertilizers, dry ice, and fuels. As a result, gas separation technologies are essential for reducing greenhouse gases and achieving a carbon-neutral society.

OOYOO’s Innovative Approach to CO₂ Capture

Start-up OOYOO is tackling CO₂ capture with a proprietary membrane separation technology that is both space-efficient and cost-effective.

Recognizing the potential of this breakthrough, Arkema and OOYOO have partnered to advance this membrane technology by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

Arkema’s Expertise in Advanced Materials

Arkema brings its pioneering expertise in polymer synthesis and material design to this collaboration. The company will focus on its flagship Pebax® elastomers, which feature tailored molecular channeling technology that enhances selectivity, chemical stability, and mechanical strength.

Collaborative Efforts for Enhanced Membrane Technology

Arkema will contribute high-performance materials. OOYOO will focus on material selection, solution formulation, and developing high-performance membranes and modules. These innovations aim to improve CO₂ separation, recovery, and reuse.

Accelerating Performance and Cost Efficiency

As per the press release, Arkema and OOYOO will accelerate performance improvements. They will also focus on reducing costs for OOYOO’s self-developed separation membranes.

Arkema will support this effort by providing high-performance materials, including Pebax® polyether block amide elastomers, polyimide, PEKK, and PVDF resins.

By combining Arkema’s advanced material technology with OOYOO’s expertise in membrane design, this collaboration will drive the next generation of CO₂ separation solutions. It will contribute to a more sustainable and carbon-neutral future.
