Aemetis Appoints Sanjeev Duggal as MD and CEO of Universal Biofuels

Aemetis, Inc., a company specializing in renewable natural gas and fuels with a focus on products that have low or negative carbon intensity, appointed Sanjeev Duggal as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of its Indian subsidiary, Universal Biofuels Private Limited. Duggal will commence his role on July 1, 2024.

Universal Biofuels is currently fulfilling a $150 million, one-year biodiesel supply contract with three government owned oil marketing companies in India. According to India’s national policy on biofuels, the country aims to achieve a five percent biodiesel blending target by 2030, a significant increase from the 0.5% blending rate when the policy was introduced in 2018.

Aemetis owns and operates a biodiesel plant with a capacity of sixty million gallons per year, a refined glycerin facility, and a fifty million gallon per year tallow refining facility located near the port of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.

As reported by finance.yahoo.com, the company is looking to expand by exporting tallow to the United States for use in producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel (RD). Additionally, Aemetis plans to produce SAF and RD in India to meet the growing demand.
