Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT) secured a licensing agreement with GIB EnergyX Slovakia to access advanced lithium-ion cell technology. As per the agreement, GIB EnergyX, a subsidiary of Gotion High-Tech, will provide ARACT with its ‘LFP technology’ for lithium-ion cells.

The extensive agreement empowers Amara Raja to produce high-quality LFP cells in both cylindrical and prismatic forms. The licensing encompasses access to intellectual property for cell technology, assistance in setting up gigafactory facilities with state-of-the-art process technologies, integration into Gotion’s global supply chain for essential battery materials, and technical support for customer solution implementation.

The technology transfer and service support are designed to fully support Amara Raja’s initiative to operationalize its Gigafactory manufacturing capabilities and advance its research and innovation center, ‘e+ Energy Labs’, positioning it at the forefront of India’s R&D in this sector. ARACT is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility (ARE&M).

As reported by Projects Today, Gotion High-Tech has eight global R&D centers, holds 8,000 patents across the battery industry value chain, and is on track to achieve a capacity layout of 300GWh by 2025.
